and Demographics | Referrals, Changes In Caseload and DemographicsReferrals Job Connection, Inc. is receiving outside referrals for classes as well as developing workshops and group activities. These programs are a fairly new phenomenon for us and we would expect them to continue and possibly grow. We are now serving more women than men. Last year we were exactly even. This is an interesting trend from the past when we served 70 % men. This year we worked with people under the age of 18. We were able to serve a person still in high school and we were delighted to be able to do so. Changes in Caseload More and more people are living with their families. Years ago 70% of our caseload had paid residential supports and now only 24% have this support. The appropriate amount of residential support has always been critical to our ability to help people maintain employment. Families have generally been very supportive of our clients who work and so that is a positive trend from a vocational viewpoint. However, we are concerned about the reasons we are seeing so many people living at home. We are not certain if this is a preference or a lack of affordable housing and residential support. DemographicsFiscal Year - Clients ServedThroughout the 2000-2001 year JCI assisted 108 clients. Our service population remains very much the same as last year. Of these clients served:
Fiscal Year - Waiting ListThroughout the 2000-2001 year JCI conducted 20 intakes for referrals for services. People on our waiting list are people with developmental disabilities. They are predominantly young people just graduating from high school.
Fiscal Year - Exited ClientsThroughout the 2000-2001 year 18 people left our program.
Reasons these clients exited our program are as follows: 3 people decided that they did not want to work anymore. 3 people changed to different programs. 4 people moved out of the Billings area. 8 people left services, as they did not need assistance anymore. Some of the 8 were referred for short-term services and some had been in supported employment for quite a while but no longer needed help. We have a limited number of people who are referred only for classes. 17 out of the 18 people who left were pleased with the services and results at the time of exit. We do a follow up survey after people have been gone a while. We received positive comments from the people who returned the survey. People felt comfortable knowing where they could go for more help if they ever needed it. The people who did not want to work at the time of exit were happy they had the chance to work and felt our services were relevant. The people who were working at the time of exit maintained employment at a fairly high level. We are only aware of one person who is out of work. Fiscal Year – Good NewsJCI celebrated with our clients: 2 Marriage 2 Driver’s Licenses 1 Learner’s Driving Permit 4 Bought First Car 2 Living Independently Wages Report Client’s Yearly Wages Wages for Job Connection clients in this fiscal year topped the ˝ million-dollar mark.
